Intellectual (IQ) assessment
Intellectual functioning testing aims to evaluate an individual’s ability to think, solve problems, analyse situations, and understand social values, customs, and norms. Intelligence is sometimes referred to intelligence quotient (IQ), cognitive functioning, intellectual ability, aptitude, thinking skills and general ability. Two main forms of intelligence are included in most intelligence assessments:
(a) Verbal Intelligence – ability to comprehend and solve language-based problems
(b) Nonverbal Intelligence – ability to understand and solve visual and spatial problems.
Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) is one of the most common individually administered IQ tests for adults.
