Biodata

Chen Wen is a clinical psychologist registered with the Malaysian Allied Health Professions Council (MAHPC(CP)00133) and the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology (CP1-0317).

Prior to becoming a clinical psychologist, she had worked with the Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA) as a facilitator to help plan, organise, and execute activities for its rehabilitation individuals, where she helped prepare them for the responsibilities of independent living. She works mostly with adults, teens and children. Her interest lies in trauma, family, interpersonal relationships and emotional regulation.

Chen Wen’s approach is primarily based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) (Certificate in Advanced Skill Training for ACT – ACTKL, Malaysia). She is a firm believer in compassion. “Compassion heals all pain”, as we experience and live through our emotions and pain, we’ll be able to live out a more meaningful and purposeful life.

Chen Wen is also a storyteller and a traveller. She travels through the realms of the present to the past and the future with her clients to have a fuller, a more holistic view and understanding of their life experiences. She also theorises her cases from the lens of an attachment theory, seeking references from their early attachment with their primary caregivers to explain how it impacted their relationship with their loved ones and significant other in their later life.

Chen Wen is warm, nurturing and authentic in sessions. She’s also congruent outside of sessions. She seeks to be the lighthouse for her clients in the darkness, and will walk alongside as them as they navigate through their pain and losses in life. Similarly, she’ll be there to celebrate their gains and successes and share all the joys and tears with them.

Chen Wen enjoys working with kids as well. She understands that they speak a different language through “play”, in accordance with the saying that goes “Play is their language and toys are their words”. She offers play therapy for kids ranged between 3-12.
