Chen Wen has experience working as a rehabilitation facilitator where her job scope included planning, organising and executing group activities catering specifically for individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and clinical depression. She guided them on their daily living, social, and communication skills to prepare them to take up more responsibilities to lead a physically and psychologically independent life.
Chen Wen works primarily with adults who are experiencing mood, anxiety, and personality disorders. She has also had experience working with children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural issues. Understanding that the beliefs and views of people vary from one another, she incorporates an integrative approach working with individuals from various background and population.
Chen Wen seeks to understand how the long-standing beliefs that individuals hold play a role in affecting their thought process and influences their emotions and behaviours in return. She believes that values are an integral part of individuals’ life that is contributed by the family upbringing, the environment that they grew up in as well as the interaction with people from their social circle. Therefore in her work, she explores their personal values and guide them in setting goals that lead them to live a meaningful and enriching life.
Chen Wen believes the cornerstone of change is courage. Thus she always validates, affirms and empowers her clients in their course of taking up a new challenge, which provides them the courage and strength that motivate them to move forward to achieve their desired goal.
